Why does simpleinfo post their email addresses using <user(a)simpleinfo(dot)com> ?

Technology is great! In the past 2 decades, information technology has advanced at an amazing rate. Unfortunately, these advances aren't always used with good intentions.

E-mail has introduced marketing opportunities for legitimate business, and provides (nearly) instantaneous communication for (nearly) free to millions of business and personal contacts world-wide. Most of the people you want to be in contact with have your e-mail address. For the people who don't (prospective clients/partners and/or acquaintances) posting an e-mail address on the Internet is a good way for them to locate you.

With these new tools, some companies have begun exploiting this low-cost marketing opportunity by abusing them with unsolicited/undesired SPAM. One of the ways these companies obtain e-mail addresses is by writing applications that scour the Internet looking for well-formed e-mail addresses (<user@domain.com>). By posting our e-mail addresses using the <user(a)domain(dot)com> format, we are able to thwart most of these applications, and limit the amount of SPAM we receive, while, at the same time, we are able to provide to you (our prospective clients/partners/acquaintances) our contact information should you be trying to find it.

Thank you for your understanding.
